DStv Diski Challenge: Chiefs, Stellenbosch and Polokwane Start Strong

Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC and Polokwane City all made a strong start in the 2025/26 DStv Diski Challenge season on Sunday, 7 September.

As the reigning champions, Chiefs looked set to demolish Orbit College at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal. They set the tone with a top-corner goal scored by Pheko Phaho in the 13th minute.

Orbit gave everything they had, including a leveller in the 33rd minute. However, Amakhosi secured the lead – and ultimately, the 2-1 victory – after Neo Bohloko converted a penalty before the half-time break.

Prior to this match, Stellenbosch took on AmaZulu FC at the same venue. Kyle Bailey, Keanan Johanessen and Turic Gamildien scored for the Cape Winelands outfit – including two goals from Johanessen – thus allowing them to defeat AmaZulu 4-1.

Meanwhile, at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, Polokwane City had a home field advantage as they faced Chippa United, whose weak performance enabled the hosts to triumph 3-1 over their visitors.

The next round of Diski Challenge matches takes place this weekend. Highlights on Sunday, 14 September, include Kaizer Chiefs taking on Stellenbosch FC, while Polokwane City will clash with Orbit College.
